On Thursday, Philadelphia Inquirer 76ers insider Keith Pompey reported that the team’s “desire to acquire Paul George in free agency is the NBA’s worst-kept secret.” Furthermore, some around the league feel like it is a good fit and “expect both sides to reach an agreement” when the 33-year-old hits the open market in July.

For a while, it seemed like a matter of time before George would sign a match contract extension with the Clippers to continue playing alongside Kawhi Leonard for many more seasons. However, contract talks between George and the team have reportedly hit a stalemate and blew the doors wide open for him to play elsewhere next season.
