Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is preparing for Super Bowl LVII Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles in Arizona.
The game’s most-talented quarterback will head into his third Super Bowl in four years with some more hardware to his name.
During Thursday’s NFL Honors show, Mahomes was named the NFL MVP for the second time in his career.
This really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. The record-setting quarterback was on a completely different playing field than his counterparts during the 2022 regular season en route to leading Kansas City to a league-best 14-3 record.

Mahomes led a Chiefs offense that ranked first in the NFL in scoring at 29.2 points per game. He also led the league in passing yards and touchdown passes in what was the quarterback’s second-best statistical performance after his initial NFL MVP campaign of 2018.

As noted above, Mahomes was the overhelming favorite to come away with this award. He was joined by fellow Super Bowl LVII starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, Buffalo Bills signal caller Josh Allen and stud Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson as a finalist for the most prestigious individual award in football.
Now a two-time NFL MVP and one-time Super Bowl MVP, Mahomes is looking to make even more history Sunday against the Eagles in hopes of hoisting a second Lombardi Trophy. If that does happen, the generational talent will likely add more hardware to his trophy case.
