The Washington Capitals (1-1-0) finish their two-day road trip to the New York area on Sunday night. They will visit the New York Rangers (2-1-0) at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.

The Capitals are coming off their first win of the season one day ago. They faced the other New York team in the Islanders and left with a 4-2 victory.

Aliaksei Protas scored two goals and recorded an assist, as his three-point night matched his single-game career best. Martin Fehervary and Ryan Leonard also scored for Washington last night.

The Capitals will finish up the first of 14 sets of games on back-to-back nights this season. Washington has 15 wins on the back half of back-to-back games since Spencer Carbery took over as head coach in 2023-24. This stat ranks the Caps fourth in the NHL over that span.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are also playing their second of back-to-back games. New York crushed the Penguins in Pittsburgh 6-1 on Saturday night. The contest marked Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan’s return to Pittsburgh after taking the New York job this past offseason.

Adam Fox recorded two goals and three points in the blowout win, while ex-Capital Taylor Raddysh also scored. Goalie Igor Shesterkin notched 18 saves for his second win this year.
