The Washington Capitals (0-1-0) are on the road for the first time this weekend. They will face the New York Islanders (0-1-0) at UBS Arena on Saturday night.
The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
The Capitals are coming off a sloppy season-opening loss to the Boston Bruins this past Wednesday. Washington fell by the score of 3-1. As a result, head coach Spencer Carbery made changes to the forward lines.
Tonight’s game is extra special for Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois. The 27-year-old will be skating in his 600th career NHL contest.
This will be the first of back-to-back games for Washington against New York teams. Tomorrow night, the Caps will head from Long Island to Manhattan to face the Rangers.
Washington will also be facing Islanders defenseman Matthew Schafer, who went No. 1 overall in this year’s NHL Draft. Schafter, 18, became the youngest defenseman to record a point in his NHL debut on Wednesday night. He assisted on Jonathan Drouin’s goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
