The Washington Capitals (18-10-3) finish up their two-game road trip on Tuesday night. They will visit the Minnesota Wild (19-9-5) at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.
The puck drops at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Capitals are coming off an abysmal 5-1 loss to Winnipeg on Saturday night. The Jets had just gotten Connor Hellebuyck back in net, as he just recovered from knee surgery.
The Capitals struggled throughout the night as Hellebuyck made 24 saves in his return. Winnipeg also led 5-0 late in the third, when it took a two-man advantage for Jakob Chychrun to end the shutout.
Nevertheless, the Capitals enter Tuesday with a 10-2-3 record over the last month. It’s the third-best mark in the NHL across that span.
The Capitals are also third in the Metropolitan Division standings, but they previously led both the division and Eastern Conference a week ago.
The Capitals finish up their season series with Minnesota on Tuesday, as both teams previously met in D.C. on Oct. 17. Alex Ovechkin recorded four points (two goals, two assists) en route to a 5-1 victory.
However, Minnesota will look much different this time with the addition of Quinn Hughes. The 2023-24 Norris Trophy-winning defenseman had been acquired from Vancouver on Friday night.
Minnesota is also coming off back-to-back home victories over Ottawa and Boston on Saturday and Sunday. The team is currently on a four-game winning streak.
