The Capitals are looking to rebound after a 5-2 loss to Detroit at Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon. The first tally of the game was scored by John Leonard, brother of Ryan.
It was a rough start for the Capitals as they trailed 4-0 in the second period. Seconds after the fourth Detroit goal, Aliaksei Protas ended the shutout.
Martin Fehervary also found the net in the third period as the Capitals attempted to come back. However, Dylan Larkin sealed it with an empty-netter for Detroit.
Heading into the third, Spencer Carbery once again adjusted the line combinations looking for a spark. It triggered some life from the Capitals which led to the Fehervary goal.
The Capitals are 3-2-1 in the second half of back-to-backs this season and have earned wins in the last two instances. The team’s 16 road wins on zero days rest since 2023-24 lead the NHL.
