The Washington Capitals (23-16-6) finish their 2025-26 Mentors’ Trip on Sunday night. They head to Nashville to face the Predators (20-20-4) at Bridgestone Arena.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Capitals are coming off a convincing 5-1 win in Chicago on Friday night. Now they look to string together victories for the first time since Dec. 2-3.

Anthony Beauvillier put the Capitals up 1-0 early on, as they were able to kill off a 5-on-3 Chicago power play minutes later. Connor McMichael and Ethen Frank then extended the lead to 3-0 at the end of the first period.

In the middle frame, Chicago’s Oliver Moore ended the shutout when he scored on the man advantage. However, Justin Sourdif extended the lead to 4-1, while Alex Ovechkin recorded career goal No. 916 in the third.

Logan Thompson also stepped up on Friday, especially with five big stops on that 5-on-3 penalty kill. He finished the night with 23 saves on 24 shots.

With this result, the Capitals are now 21-9-0 all-time on Mentors’ Trips.

Meanwhile, Nashville has gotten it together after a slow start to the season. They are now 12th in the Western Conference and just four points behind the playoff cutline.

Sunday’s game is the back end of a set of back-to-backs for Nashville, as they fell to Chicago 3-0 on Saturday night.
