The Washington Capitals (20-13-5) finish a short two-game road trip on Monday night. They will visit the two-time defending champion Florida Panthers (20-15-2) at Amerant Bank Arena.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Capitals are coming off a thrilling 4-3 OT victory over New Jersey on Saturday. Jakob Chychrun scored the game-winning goal 4:06 into overtime.

The Capitals had led 2-1 heading into the final frame, but New Jersey was able to add two goals 32 seconds apart. Thankfully, Alex Ovechkin tied it up at 3-3 in the third for career goal No. 912.

Logan Thompson also stepped up between the pipes by stopping 35 of 38 shots. He even made 28 saves in the first 40 minutes, including every shot he faced at 5-on-5.

This was just the second win in eight games (2-4-2) for the Capitals, as Aliaksei Protas powered the offense by recording three points (1 goal, 2 assists).

Meanwhile, Florida is coming off a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday in the first of a five-game homestand. The game featured multiple penalties, including 27 roughing minors, five misconducts, and only two fighting majors.

Despite the loss and the ongoing absence of several key players to injuries, Florida has won eight of its last 11 games (8-3-0). Sitting in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, the team looks to win a third straight Stanley Cup.
