The Washington Capitals (18-9-4) are set to begin a two-game road trip. They head north of the border to face the Winnipeg Jets (14-15-1) at Canada Life Centre on Saturday night.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The two teams previously met at Capital One Arena on Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving. The Capitals won 4-3 in that matchup.

Right now, the Capitals are on a nine-game point streak, as they have picked up a point in 13 of their last 14 games.

The Capitals are also coming off a brief two-game homestand that concluded on Thursday. The team fell 3-2 to Carolina in a shootout.

The Capitals held a slim 2-1 lead late in regulation, only for Carolina to tie it up. The game needed overtime and then a shootout, where Seth Jarvis scored the lone goal to win it for the visitors.

Nic Dowd showed a lot of grit in Thursday night’s loss. When the third period started, Dowd dropped the gloves with Jordan Martinook. Then, he scored the go-ahead goal later on in the period.

In terms of injury news, Charlie Lindgren has been activated off IR, but it appears that Logan Thompson will get the start in net.

Also, Bogdan Trineyev is set to make his NHL debut for the Capitals. The 23-year-old winger will replace Sonny Milano, who is a healthy scratch.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg is still dealing with the absence of star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The defending Hart Trophy winner has been sidelined for a month now, due to a knee injury.

However, he is set to return to to help Winnipeg, who will play their third of a four-game homestand.
