Montreal Canadiens News
Some former members of the Canadiens are doing well with their new teams, such as Joel Armia in Los Angeles, and Emil Heineman in Long Island. However, not all the players who featured on Montreal’s lineup last year are thriving with a new work address. [Former Canadiens Players Thriving And Struggling]
Habs players, as well as head coach Martin St-Louis, rallied around Samuel Montembeault following Tuesday’s loss versus the Kings.
#Habs Martin St-Louis says he's not concerned about Sam Montembeault's confidence: "I think we have 2 goalies, we've played pretty well as a group, we weren't sharp in front of Monty tonight so I'm not worried."

ICYMI: Montembeault had a hard time versus the Kings, as evidenced by his hesitancy to freeze a puck in the second period. Rather than covering it up while the Montreal Canadiens were hemmed in, Montembeault attempted a pass, which landed directly on Kevin Fiala’s stick. However, it should be said that the entire team struggled against Los Angeles, putting together one of their worst efforts of the year. [Kings Dominate Canadiens in Frustrating Match Up]
It’s one thing to be frustrated with a professional athlete, but it’s another all together to send them hate messages on social media. Don’t be that person, no one likes that person. On a related note, Montembeault had to delete his Instagram account.

“Especially on social media, you gotta put that behind. I deleted my Instagram cause obviously after a loss, you can’t go on it. Many things that are said aren’t nice on there. You just gotta take… pic.twitter.com/ZJ48sRDAAN
Jakub Dobes, who is currently one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, was quick to defend his teammate.
#Habs Jakub Dobeš on Sam Montembeault's struggles: "he'll be fine, he's a great goalie, he had a great season and a lot of games last year. Not every month you can be perfect and be good but we all trust Monty…"

There are some games you shouldn’t win but still do. It has been some time since the Pittsburgh Penguins were on the fun side of that equation, but a few times this season, opponents bombarded the Penguins and got nothing in return but the offer of a moral victory while the Penguins escaped to the locker room with two points. Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice says he does not believe in the word ‘momentum.’ Once the puck drops, Maurice says, what happened the game before is not relevant. The Panthers ended up going 2-2 on their California/Vegas road trip which was certainly not overwhelming. Considering the list of Panthers on the injured list, recovering from an ugly 7-3 loss in Anaheim to start things off must be considered commendable. [Florida Panthers]
The Philadelphia Eagles recently swung a trade for former Dolphins first-round pick Jaelan Phillips, who’s set for free agency at the end of the season. If Phillips leaves, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes the Eagles would be in a position to receive a “strong” compensatory draft pick. [Sportsnaut]
