It’s June 1, and there’s been a flurry of NFL activity. While no news is bigger than the Myles Garrett trade, the New York Giants have been busy too.
It all started with them bringing back franchise icon Odell Beckham Jr. They also added former All-Pro return specialist Braxton Berrios, which is no doubt a response to Gunner Olszewski recently tearing his Achilles tendon. Yet, the Giants weren’t done adding to their receiver depth chart on Monday; they also added yet another Pro Bowl receiver.

According to Jordan Schultz, the Giants have signed one-time Pro Bowl receiver and Super Bowl champion JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract.
While it feels like the former Steelers, Chiefs, and Patriots receiver has been around forever, he’s only 29 years old. However, Smith-Schuster hasn’t topped 350 yards since 2022. He also has just one 1,000-yard season to his name.
Still, the Giants are clearly sending a message to their receiver room, which now has a ton of competition while Malik Nabers recovers from last year’s torn ACL.
The Giants now have Darius Slayton, free agent signees Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin, third-round rookie Malachi Fields, former third-round pick Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, OBJ, Berrios, Smith-Schuster, Beaux Collins, Ryan Miller, Xavier Gipson, and Dalen Cambre, all competing for somewhere between 5-8 spots either on the roster and/or the practice squad.
