A new round of reports has revealed the three-point plan the New England Patriots reportedly have to completely overhaul their quarterback room for 2024 and beyond.

This will be a very big offseason for the Patriots. The organization is coming off a 4-13 disaster of a season but they have all the resources to immediately improve their team for next season, including the most important position on the field, quarterback.

The team has the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which could be used on a top QB prospect. They could use that asset to potentially pull off a blockbuster trade for a signal caller, or they could use their massive amount of cap space to pursue players like Kirk Cousins or Baker Mayfield in free agency.

Well, it seems like they could do a variation of all of the above in the coming weeks. First comes a report from Jeff Howe and Chad Graff of The Athletic who claim “The Patriots really want to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 pick. The front office wrapped up its pre-free-agency meetings a week ago and [decided] that the best way to jump-start this rebuild and yield long-term success is to find a young quarterback in the NFL Draft.”

That likely will be either North Carolina star Drake Maye or 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels. However, the Patriots director of scouting Eliot Wolf, and his team also want to get that rookie a veteran QB to be mentored by according to MassLive.com NFL writers Karen Guregian, Mark Daniels, and Chris Mason.

The goal would be to follow a similar game plan to what teams like the Packers have done in the past to groom young QBs. Wolf has deep ties to Green Bay due to his father formerly being an executive there.

Then there is the Mac Jones situation. The MassLive trio also reported the organization intends to trade off the starting QB for the last three seasons. The belief around the NFL is that the former first-round pick could fetch a fourth or fifth-round pick from a team willing to bet on his potential or in need of a backup QB.
