Now at 10-1 on the season, the Dallas Cowboys have cemented their status as the class of the NFL heading into December. It’s not only a surprising performance from the young and rapidly progressing team, it has the potential to be historical when all is said and done.
Dallas boasts two rookie starters in the backfield in the form of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. And both are absolutely dominating. Including the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving day win over the Washington Redskins, Prescott has put up 23 touchdowns compared to two interceptions in 11 starts. Meanwhile, Elliott has gained over 1,500 total yards with 12 touchdowns.
Needless to say, owner Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ brass are giddy by what the team has done thus far this season.

One play in particular on Thursday comes to mind here. Facing pressure in the third quarter, Prescott scrambled to the outside, throwing two defenders out of the way with a stiff arm. It was a play we usually see reserved for elite-level running backs, not quarterbacks.
It should also come with some caution for the Cowboys. It’s already at that point in his young career where the Cowboys need to find a way to protect Prescott more. While their offensive line surely is doing the job, him exposing himself outside of the pocket could lead to some issues moving forward here.
As it is, the Cowboys find themselves at 10-1 on the season and as Super Bowl favorites in the NFC. Asking Prescott to change the way he plays mid-stream probably isn’t the best of ideas.
