June 1 has been a busy day around the NFL. Several players, including former Pro Bowlers and even an All-Pro, have signed contracts with new teams. The biggest news involved Myles Garrett being traded. Tomorrow, the A.J. Brown trade could finally get executed.
Rumors have linked Brown to a trade, potentially to the New England Patriots, dating back to last season’s trade deadline. On June 2, the likelihood of a trade increase due to cap implications. If traded, the Eagles would escape $133.1 million in future payments to the soon-to-be 29-year-old receiver. Now we also know what the Eagles are expected to get in return, aside from cap relief.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Jeff McLane, the Eagles will be getting the Patriots’ first-round pick in 2028 in exchange for Brown.
“If the return for A.J. Brown is straight up a 2028 first round draft pick — and from what I understand, that is the case — then it would come two draft cycles after the parameters of a deal between the Eagles and Patriots were likely set.”
If so, the question becomes when the Patriots and Eagles will submit the trade paperwork to the NFL. Brown heading to New England has been the league’s worst-kept secret all offseason long; we’d imagine all sides are eager to move on to the next chapter. Judging from the Eagles’ offseason receiver additions of Makai Lemon in the first round, trading for Dontayvion Wicks, and signing Hollywood Brown, they have already moved on.
