The NFL trade deadline is set to come and go Nov. 3 at 4 PM EST. Among those bandied about as potential trade bait is reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore of the New England Patriots.

Whether it was unintentional or not, Gilmore just added some fuel to the fire leading up to the deadline.

NFL trade deadline: Did Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore seems to suggest a deal could be on the horizon

Per WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” (h/t Albert Breer of NBC Sports Boston), Gilmore has listed his New England-based house on the open market.

The property details part of the listing includes this ominous line “All offers if any due on Tuesday, November 3rd @ 5PM.” Yes, that’s one hour after the NFL trade deadline itself.

Suggestions are that New England is willing to listen to offers for their Pro Bowl cornerback. Now that the team sits at 2-4 on the season, a trade might end up coming to fruition.

Will Stephon Gilmore be traded?

Gilmore, 30, is set to count $17.17 million against the cap in 2021. That’s money the Patriots might want to use elsewhere as they rebrand on the fly.

It will all come down to compensation here. New England will likely demand a first-round pick and change for the All-Pro ahead of the NFL trade deadline in less than a week. Will another team be willing to pay that given his relatively advanced age for a cornerback and his high salary? We’re not too sure. NFL teams might decide he’s worth it

This past weekend, a report surfaced that the Patriots are looking to add receiver help for struggling quarterback Cam Newton. That came hours before a 33-6 blowout loss to the 49ers and Newton finding himself benched.

At this point, it seems more reasonable to believe that New England will sell off ahead of the NFL trade deadline. That includes the likes of Gilmore and Pro Bowl guard Joe Thuney.
