Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett publicly requested a trade before the Super Bowl, asking for his way out of Cleveland with the hopes of landing with a contender before the 2025 season. However, the organization has been adamant it won’t make a deal.

Even before Garrett requested a trade, there were circulating NFL rumors that the All-Pro edge rusher and Defensive Player of the Year wanted out of Cleveland. He stated late in the season that he didn’t want to stick around for a rebuild, leaving many in the organization to believe a trade request was imminent.

It’s part of the reason why Browns general manager Andrew Berry was asked at the Senior Bowl about the possibility of trading Garrett. When asked if he would consider a hypothetical deal of two first-round picks for one of the best players in the NFL, Berry made it clear that wouldn’t even be given a second of consideration.

“Correct. You can put that on the record.”

However, with executives from around the league in New Orleans to witness the Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs matchup, many see it playing out very differently.

Bleacher Report‘s NFL insider shared that the buzz in New Orleans heading into Super Bowl LIX is that Garrett will be traded, despite the Browns’ strong stance that a deal won’t even be considered.

“The vibe here right now is that he’s going to get traded…

Garrett could try and make things difficult for the Browns, holding out of all offseason activities and threatening to sit out training camp. However, he is still under contract for the next two seasons with the Browns’ front office holding control over this situation.

For now, it seems general managers and executives around the league are hopeful that Garrett can force his way out. If that happens, it would likely be in advance of the 2025 NFL Draft so the Browns could use any draft picks acquired to have players who would contribute immediately next season.
