NFL Draft rumors: New York Jets ‘infatuated’ with this top prospect in 2025 NFL Draft

The New York Jets have the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, putting them in a strong position to land a high-end talent they can build around as a core part of their future. While it’s far too early to tell who the Jets will draft in 2025, there are some early NFL Draft rumors regarding who they might want.

New York’s options could include spending its first-round pick on a quarterback even after signing Justin Fields. However, there’s a growing expectation that the Tennessee Titans will draft Cam Ward with the first overall pick. As for quarterback Shedeur Sanders, the current belief is that he doesn’t make it past the New York Giants (third overall pick) with a very real possibility of the Cleveland Browns taking him second overall.

If both quarterbacks are off the board, that pushes better talent toward the Jets. New York has plenty of areas of need defensively, especially after not re-signing cornerback DJ Reed Jr. However, first-year head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey seem more focused on the other side of the ball.

In his latest 2025 NFL Draft mock, Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda said the Jets are “infatuated” with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. New York’s interest in the All-American is strong enough that the club reportedly wants to have multiple meetings with him.

  • Tyler Warren stats 2024 (ESPN): 104 receptions, 1,233 receiving yards, 218 rushing yards, 13 total touchdowns

Warren, 6-foot-5, is one of the best pass-catchers in the 2025 NFL Draft. While he’s not viewed quite on the same level of a prospect as Brock Bowers was, there is a belief that Warren could become a multi-time Pro Bowl selection. He would fit perfectly in Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand’s offense, becoming that go-to tight end like Sam LaPorta was for the Detroit Lions.

Realistically, Warren should be available with the seventh overall pick. However, New York might have to consider if the unique depth of the tight end class in the 2025 NFL Draft could allow for the position to be addressed later. If Warren is drafted by the Jets, he’ll provide an excellent complementary weapon to Garrett Wilson and make life much easier for Fields as the starter in 2025.
