NFL Draft running back prospect’s football future in jeopardy due to heart issue

From April 27-29, a total of 259 NFL Draft prospects will near their names called with their dreams being fulfilled. All those years of hard work, from peewee football practices to putting in extra time in the right room, finally paying off.

It’s undoubtedly the most exciting time of a football player’s life to this point, a chance to be drafted by an NFL team. But at this point, there’s no more work to be done. Their resumes are out there, interviews are done, and draft boards are mostly settled. A player’s draft stock is what it is at this stage.

Yet, for one running back prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft class, that dream suddenly may not be fulfilled.

According to Bob McGinn, Syracuse’s Sean Tucker is reportedly dealing with a heart issue discovered during the NFL Scouting Combine.

“Because of an ongoing heart issue that was revealed at the combine, his football future is in jeopardy. ‘This sounds like it’s not going away,’ said one team executive. ‘Essentially, he could be done.”

Obviously, this is the last thing an NFL Draft prospect wants to hear when their goals are so close to becoming a reality. The exact heart problem the 21-year-old is experiencing remains unclear.

After rushing for over 3,000 yards with the Orange across three seasons, the 5-foot-9, 207-pound back appeared to have a strong chance of being a mid-round selection, but now we’re not so sure what his future holds.
