NFL analysts rip New England Patriots mess after Week 5: ‘No QB is going to be successful in New England’

A pair of well-known NFL analysts absolutely took a verbal blowtorch to the New England Patriots and the mess they have become after embarrassing losses the last two weeks.

For New England Patriots fans who thought last season was frustrating, they have gotten a rude awakening in 2023 as the team fell to 1-4 after Week 5. However, what has made it all the more concerning is that the team — especially on offense — is getting progressively worse each week.

In their last two games against the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, the once-elite defense has given up an average of 36 points, and the still-struggling offense has scored just three points combined in both matchups. In both games, starting quarterback Mac Jones was benched after horrid play.

The team’s continued spiral has led to all sorts of speculation, including the possibility of legendary head coach Bill Belichick being fired at the end of the season. Things have gotten so messy that a pair of ESPN NFL analysts debated just how bad the team and their offense is on Monday.

On a new edition of “Get Up,” former New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan began the bashing of the Patriots by explaining the team was always doomed once they parted ways with iconic NFL QB Tom Brady.

“I’ve told you for years this team stinks, they’ll never win again,” Ryan said. “Because, I’m telling you, they had their run with Brady, when they let him go I told you they would never win again and they’re not going to.”

In an attempt to try and defend Jones after having a strong showing in his rookie season two years ago, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovksy claimed the former Alabama star would be successful if he were on the San Francisco 49ers with head coach Kyle Shanahan.

An idea Ryan scoffed at and claimed was a “slap in the face” to the play of San Francisco QB Brock Purdy.

To further his defense, Orlovsky boldly claimed, “No quarterback is going to be successful in New England.” A notion Ryan called “absolutely right.”

The New England Patriots’ last two losses are officially the worst during the Belichick era for the franchise. The head coach also brought in former offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to improve the offense this season, however, he has made no difference for the unit thus far.
