Next generation Earnhardt wins big race in Tulsa

Wyatt is the nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The next generation of the Earnhardt legacy won a major race in the development system on Sunday night when Wyatt Miller emerged victorious in the Restricted Micro Sprint division of the Tulsa Shootout in Oklahoma.

Miller is the 12-year-old son of Kelley Earnhardt-Miller and LW Miller — and thus the the nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr.  He is the grandson of Dale Earnhardt Sr.

The Tulsa Shootout is the precursor to the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, held two weeks before that event, and features numerous Outlaw Kart and Micro Sprint division races. The division won by Miller after a week of multiple races to set the starting lineup for the feature was the Restricted A division, which drew 139 total entries this year.

Miller led every lap but not without a little drama in the first corner, in which Miller and Jett Nunley connected and sent the latter into a 360 spin, but with a damaged nose wing. Nunley got his spot back and ultimately finished third.

Miller led every lap of the 20 lap feature but it was a mid-race interview for a track repair where his Earnhardt genes really came out.

Miller, who is nicknamed ‘The Thriller,’ won for team owner Chad Boat.

As for Nunley, he leaves the Tulsa Expo Hall feeling as though he got ran over by Miller.
