Top NFL insider claims it’s New York Jets or retirement for Aaron Rodgers in 2023

A top NFL insider believes Aaron Rodgers will either accept a trade to the New York Jets or decide to walk away from the sport because a return to the Green Bay Packers continues to look exceedingly unlikely.

Aaron Rodgers’ future in the NFL has been the biggest story in the early days of the offseason. After signing him to a massive extension worth $150 million last year, the Packers seem ready to begin a new era for their team at quarterback. But it is still unclear what the legendary signal-caller wants.

However, during a Friday edition of Sportcenter, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that all signs point to the relationship between Green Bay and the future Hall-of-Famer being all but done. And, in the end, there are only two logical paths ahead for Rodgers.

“There continue to be more and more signs of him leaving Green Bay. My sense is, ultimately it will come down to whether he wants to play elsewhere — which would be, really, the New York Jets — or whether he wants to retire. To me, those are the two most logical options and likely scenarios here. But we’ve not heard from Aaron Rodgers himself.”

Aaron Rodgers decision is holding up offseason moves for New York Jets and other teams

During his report, Schefter also claimed that Rodgers is holding up various teams’ plans for the offseason. And once the domino that is his decision for 2023 falls, several other notable QB moves are likely to follow.

“At some point, something has to happen here because Derek Carr is waiting to see where Aaron Rodgers wants to go, these teams need decisions from the quarterbacks and everything right now is being hung up while we wait to hear from No. 12.”

The New York Jets have consistently been linked to a possible trade for the four-time NFL MVP. However, they have also met with Carr and seem to have a serious interest in the former Las Vegas Raiders star. Rodgers is expected to make it known what his plans are for 2023 in the next week.
