A new report suggests a long-rumored plan the New York Giants were working toward for the 2025 NFL Draft is now dead.
The New York Giants have had a busy month thus far. They re-signed veteran receiver Darius Slayton. Made a couple of big additions to the secondary in Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo. And Big Blue made several other signings to try and bolster their roster for next season.
However, they have yet to address their biggest issue this offseason. And that is who will be their starting quarterback this year. The team has been linked to future Hall of Famers Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. But they could also look to use the third overall pick in the NFL Draft to select one of the top QB prospects in this year’s class.
Over the last month, there have been reports the organization would like to move up to the No. 1 spot, so they can take the signal caller viewed as the best in this year’s draft, Cam Ward. However, a new report suggests that it no longer looks like an option.

New York Giants insider claims plans to trade up in NFL Draft are ‘dead’

During a recent edition of his Breaking Big Blue podcast, New York Giants insider Jordan Raanan claims the organization’s top two plans to find a new starting QB this offseason look to have failed.
“Plan A was to get Matthew Stafford this offseason. Plan B appears to be try to get the No. 1 overall pick, that appears dead too,” Raanan said [h/t Bleacher Report].”
Despite various reports about the flaws in Cam Ward’s game, there have been rumblings in recent days the Tennessee Titans won’t pass on taking the QB they badly need with the top overall pick. They had been linked to using the No. 1 selection on highly touted Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter.
This could force the G-Men to pivot to going best available player or drafting Shedeur Sanders at No. 3.
