It’s an open question what the New York Giants are going to do with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Coming off an ugly six-win season, they could go in a number of different directions. Recent indications are that general manager Joe Schoen could trade up for a quarterback as an eventual replacement for Daniel Jones. Wide receiver is also a major need for New York heading into the annual event later this month.

We already know about the Jones’ situation. He signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Giants last offseason. The former No. 6 overall pick out of Duke proceeded to throw two touchdowns compared to six interceptions in six starts before suffering a torn ACL.

With the draft two weeks away, one of the top prospects is speaking out about the Giants and their quarterback situation.

“(The New York Giants) are going to want to get me the ball, so I am sure they’re going to want to have a QB that can do that,” Nabers said this week.

Talk about throwing shade. Obviously, Nabers does not believe that Jones can be the answer tossing him the rock in Jersey. But to openly say what most believe is pretty crazy for a top-end NFL Draft prospect.

For what it’s worth, New York has been linked to trade-up scenarios for the likes of Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy and Drake Maye of North Carolina.

It remains highly unlikely that Nabers would end up on the same team with either of them. Our most-recent NFL mock draft has Maye going off the board to the Washington Commanders at two with McCarthy landing in Minnesota at five and Nabers finding himself selected by the aforementioned Giants at six.

Imagine how awkward it would be if Nabers heads to the Giants while Jones is still QB1 after these comments. Oh boy.
