It appears Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter’s days in his current position could be numbered. In the midst of what could be an historically bad season, the veteran manager is now exploring other options.
Amidst the intrigue in Baltimore, one more factor. Before taking the O’s manager job in 2010, Buck Showalter turned down the Mississippi St. head coach job in 2008. He’s told friends that if things don’t go his way in the coming O’s shakeup that’s he would seriously consider MSU.

Showalter, 62, has served as Baltimore’s manager since 2010. During his tenure with the Orioles, he has compiled a .527 winning percentage in 1,181 games with the organization.
According to Kiley McDaniel, Showalter would seriously contemplate a move away from the organization to become the manager of Mississippi State University’s baseball team. This past season, MSU finished with a 39-27 and is in the College World Series.
According to McDaniels’ report, Baltimore’s manager would like to transition into a front office role and become the team’s head of baseball operations should he remain with the organization.
If he is unable to work something out with the organization, then the long-time MLB manager could transition to collegiate baseball.
