The New York Yankees have been active buyers ahead of the MLB trade deadline, acquiring infielders Ryan McMahon and Amed Rosario. While New York is still actively pursuing additions for the roster, it is also reportedly open to unloading some pitching.
According to SNY‘s Andy Martino, “rival executives” have learned that the Yankees may be willing to discuss trades involving their relievers on expiring contracts.

If true, that would mean Devin Williams, Luke Weaver, JT Brubaker, and Jonathan Loáisiga would potentially be available. Notably, Loáisiga has a $5 million club option for next season that could be declined given his struggles (4.78 ERA) this season.
- Devin Williams stats (ESPN): 4.58 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 53-15 K-BB, .579 OPS allowed
New York acquired Williams in December in exchange for Nestor Cortes Jr. and Caleb Durbin. The All-Star closer immediately struggled in New York, recording a 10.03 ERA with a 13-10 K-BB ratio, allowing 13 hits and 13 earned runs in his first 11.2 innings pitched.

He’s been much better since then, registering a 2.36 ERA with a 38-5 K-BB line, allowing just 15 hits and 7 earned runs in his last 26.2 innings pitched. Even with the 30-year-old set to become a free agent this winter, it seems highly unlikely that New York would move Williams after he reclaimed the closer role.
Weaver is another key piece of the Yankees’ bullpen, registering a 3.08 ERA this season with 8 saves. While July has delivered poor results (8.31 ERA in 8.2 innings), it’s hard to see New York moving him unless it acquires another reliever to replace him.

Realistically, that leaves just Brubaker and Loáisiga as the likeliest Yankees relievers to be moved. Neither would generate much of a return, but New York might simply be moving some pieces of its bullpen around if it can line up other deals.
