The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly failed in an attempt to pry veteran scorer Eric Gordon away from the Houston Rockets.

The Bucks are having another strong season in 2022-2023. The team is in first place in the Central Division and owns a top-five spot in the overall NBA standings and in our recent NBA power rankings. It’s hard to be too bothered by the team’s 29-17 start.

However, there are reasons for concern when it comes time to battle through a deep and contender-filled Eastern Conference playoffs in the spring. The Bucks have certain elements that will surely make them a favorite in the conference — Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing like an MVP candidate and their defense is one of the best in the NBA. But the Milwaukee offense is a bit of a problem.

Outside of Antetokounmpo’s impressive nightly average of 31.0 points a game, the rest of the roster has not offered their star much help. And Kris Middleton has not gotten back to full speed after missing much of the season with a knee injury.

It seems the Milwaukee Bucks front office is well aware of the fact that their offense is among the worst in the NBA and tried to address it recently by adding a proven veteran scorer.

On Saturday, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Bucks reached out to the Houston Rockets about disgruntled guard Eric Gordon. The 15-year veteran has been open about his happiness with the team’s direction in what seems to be an attempt to tank to land top prospect Victor Wenbanyama, in the 2023 NBA Draft.

However, the team with the worst record in the NBA reportedly rebuffed the Milwaukee Bucks’ offer and is shockingly believed to be looking for a first-round pick for the aging player who has never reached an All-Star game.

Eric Gordon is averaging his worst points per game numbers of his career (12.3) and hasn’t played in 60 or more games in four years. While he is a proven scorer in the league and a reliable three-point threat, the Rockets may be waiting for a long-time if they hope to land a first-round selection for a 34-year-old player with a long history of injury woes.
