Current Charlotte Hornets free agent forward Miles Bridges did not play a single game during the 2022-23 season after a domestic violence incident this past June.
A restricted free agent at the time, Bridges’ off-court issues led to a lack of interest in his services. Ultimately, the former 12th overall pick from Michigan State entered a plea deal in the case. Said plea was no contest to a felony domestic violence charge.
Obviously, the incident itself was a bad look for Miles Bridges, the Charlotte Hornets and the NBA as a whole. It’s in this that the Association announced on Friday that Bridges has been suspended for 30 games.
“The NBA announced today that Miles Bridges has been suspended for 30 games without pay as a result of a domestic violence incident involving the mother of his children,” league announcement on suspension.
Miles Bridges suspension and what it means
The NBA went on to note that because Bridges did not suit up in a single game last season, the first 20 games of the suspension have already been served. If Bridges were to land with a team in free agency this summer, he would be suspended for the first 10 games of the 2023-24 campaign.
It was back on June 30 of 2022 that Bridges was arrested on felony domestic violence charges in an incident that involved the mother of his children. As noted above, the incident did not paint him in a good light.
Even then, teams did show some interest in signing the talented forward during the 2022-23 season. Nothing came to fruition on that end.

Bridges was coming off a breakout fourth season in the NBA and was set to cash in big time during free agency before being arrested. Now that this is behind him, Bridges hopes to continue his NBA career. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen.
