Josh McDaniels hitched his cart to Jimmy Garoppolo in 2023. McDaniels is gone, and now Jimmy G is likely the next to leave the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. This leaves behind second-year fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell and 38-year-old Brian Hoyer as the only quarterbacks on the Raiders roster.

Needless to say, improving at QB is a major need in Las Vegas, and there are a number of avenues the Raiders could take. Free agency is one, but after the Garoppolo experiment failed, it’s possible the Raiders focus on finding a long-term solution, and there’s one QB prospect who’s been consistently linked to Vegas.
Jayden Daniels’ connections to Las Vegas Raiders run deep
It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders are hunting for a new QB this offseason, but with the 13th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, finding a long-term solution won’t be easy.
Yet, there’s one prospect who ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler says Raiders fans should keep an eye on throughout the draft process.
“Jayden Daniels out of LSU is a name to watch, as I’ve talked to a few teams who have pointed out Antonio Pierce, who was with him at ASU back in the day, loves him. Of course, he went to LSU, won the Heisman, could be a top 3 pick. Raiders pick 13th, so they would have to make a huge jump to get up there and get him, but it’s at least a possibility.”

With Caleb Williams widely expected to be the first overall pick and the Washington Commanders likely locked in on a QB at No. 2, as Fowler mentioned, the Raiders might have to trade with New England if Daniels is their top target. Yet, as you can imagine, Las Vegas probably isn’t the only team considering a big trade for the Heisman winner.
Other teams who could be eyeing a trade up for Daniels could include Atlanta at eight, Minnesota at 11, Denver at 12, and Las Vegas at 13, among others. Yet, if not Daniels, other quarterbacks could generate plenty of interest too, such as Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
