During the Las Vegas Raiders Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, team owner Mark Davis was caught on video yelling at frustrated fans to “smarten up” after calling for the job of head coach Josh McDaniels.
The Las Vegas Raiders have not only been a mess for just the first four games of the season but since a disappointing 6-11 showing in McDaniels’ first season in Vegas last year. There have been questions about the team’s choices for the roster, and the approach of the coaching staff since last year. And it seems that little has changed despite some notable changes in the offseason.

If not for a Week 1 win against the lowly Denver Broncos, the Raiders could easily be winless as their defense continues to struggle and the offense can’t get on track despite having a couple of Pro Bowlers in Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs.
Unsurprisingly, there is a growing frustration with the team’s devoted fanbase, and there has been an increasing push for McDaniels to be ousted as the Raiders head coach as they seem to be in another downward spiral in 2023.
Las Vegas Raiders owner tells fans wanting Josh McDaniels to be fired to ‘smarten up’
On Sunday, Las Vegas was on the road, but not far from home when they faced the Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. With the team’s game being in close proximity, their owner Mark Davis was in attendance for the matchup. As they looked headed to another loss this weekend, Raiders fans in the stadium started to air their frustrations, and when some realized that Davis was also in the building they let the team boss know about their grievances.
One particular moment was caught on video and popped up on X/Twitter this week. In the footage, fans are heard asking Davis why hasn’t McDaniels been fired yet. To which the Las Vegas Raiders owner responds by yelling back to “smarten up” and “use your head.”
In the end, it didn’t seem like Davis took things personally and could also be seen mouthing to another fan, “I know” and giving a thumbs up.

With growing frustration in the locker room and a lot of money being wasted on some expensive players, it will be interesting to see what the team owner does if the team has another losing season in 2023. The loss on Sunday moved head coach Josh McDaniels to 7-13 with the franchise and 18-30 overall as a head coach NFL during his career.
