Despite rumblings for weeks that the Las Vegas Raiders would do all they could to land a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft and new report suggests they may end up going in a very different direction.

After the Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency last year it wasn’t long before they realized he would not be a long-term answer for them at QB. In relief, rookie Aidan O’Connell did a solid job in his 11 appearances, but he showed he was also not the player that would replace Derek Carr as their next franchise QB.

For the last couple of months, there have been rumors that the team would like to take one of the talented signal-callers in this year’s class with their selection at 13 in Round 1. Unfortunately, there are many QB-needy teams this month and as many as four quarterbacks could be off the board before it’s time for Las Vegas to make a selection and none of those teams seem interested in trading out of their current spots.

That may be why ESPN NFL Draft insider Jordan Reid reported on Thursday that Las Vegas Raiders fans should “Expect offensive line or cornerback at No. 13 overall” in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Is Terrion Arnold the Las Vegas Raiders likely target with the 13th pick in Round 1?

Furthermore, he didn’t just suggest what positions they are likely to address in Round 1 — if they can’t pull off a big trade up into the top 10 — but which players would be a perfect fit for them.

“At Alabama’s pro day last month, Pierce seemed to be keeping a close eye on Terrion Arnold, who would give Vegas a shutdown corner on the outside,” Reid wrote. “But sources with the team have also suggested to me that the Raiders could add another tackle to pair with Kolton Miller. Taliese Fuaga is a natural match based on the hole at right tackle and play style, but don’t dismiss JC Latham at this spot, either.”

Cornerback and offensive tackle are major priorities for the team heading into this year’s event, and it isn’t out of the question that they could still target quarterbacks like Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix with their pick in Round 2 on April 26.
