Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins missed the playoffs this past season, and that means the quarterback is engaged in some offseason activities he’d rather avoid.
As four NFL teams prepared for their conference championship games Saturday, Cousins found himself at a mall, sitting outside a perfume store waiting for his wife.

First off, we commend Cousins for manning up and taking his wife to the mall. That’s a harrowing experience for many men, and he’s awfully brave to have taken on the challenge.
Secondly, we hope Cousins is bracing for the potential that it might be a few more Januaries before he’s finished with mall shopping while other teams compete for the Lombardi Trophy.
One reason for this is that there are some strong rumors that he could be heavily pursued by the San Francisco 49ers, who are expected to hire Kyle Shanahan (more on that here).
Realistically, it’s going to be hard for Cousins to get into the playoffs next year even if he’s in Washington. Both the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys appear to have a leg up on the Redskins in the NFC East, and there is a ton of competition for the conference’s two wild card spots.
Still, with the kind of motivation Cousins has behind his resolve, perhaps he’ll inspire whichever team he’s on to greater heights than expected in 2017.
