Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields ruled out with hand injury

  • Update: X-rays on Justin Fields’ hand were negative. The quarterback will get an MRI on Monday.

Third-year Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields entered Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings coming off the best two-game span of his career.

It didn’t go swimmingly for Fields through two-plus quarters with the embattled signal caller having completed just 6-of-10 passes for 50 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception.

Unfortunately for Fields, he also exited the game with an apparent hand injury in the third quarter with Chicago down 12-6. Fields was seen heading to the locker room with rookie undrafted free agent Tyson Bagent replacing him under center.

Bagent would go on to lose a fumble after a sack Vikings safety Josh Metellus, leading to a touchdown for the Vikings’ defense and a 19-6 lead.

As for Fields, the Bears provided an initial update by indicating that the quarterback is questionable to return with a right hand injury. He was then ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Justin Fields stats: 62% completion, 1,143 passing yards, 191 rushing yards, 12 TD, 5 INT

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

It’s way too early to tell how serious the injury is. The fact that he’s been ruled out for the remainder of the game can’t be seen as good news for the Bears.

Chicago is coming off its first win of the season, a 40-20 drubbing of the Washington Commanders back in Week 5. Unfortunately, things are not looking good Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.

We’ll have further updates on Fields’ injury once they become available.
