Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant drops 28 points in a quarter against the Lakers

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant was absolutely on one in the third quarter of Tuesday’s home date with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Taking on the LeBron James-less Lakers, Morant dropped a franchise record 28 points in the third stanza. He was hooping up and down the court inside FedEx Forum. It was something to behold.

Morant finished the third quarter with 34 points on 13-of-27 shooting after struggling a tad in the first half. The dude absolutely went nuclear as the Lakers failed to provide an answer to his dominant play.

As for what we’re seeing from Ja Morant this season, the star guard is averaging 27.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 8.1 assists for a contending Grizzlies squad. Though, he was mired in a bit of a slump heading into Tuesday night’s action.

Morant couldn’t have picked a better time to break out of this funk with the Grizzlies having lost 10 of their past 15 games and currently hoping to fend off the Sacramento Kings for the second seed in the Western Conference.
