Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James out indefinitely with foot injury

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off an epic comeback on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.

The backdrop here was King James pulling up hobbled during the game. Initially, it seemed as if the four-time NBA champion was dealing with a ton of pain.

Interestingly enough, James remained in the game and helped Los Angeles pull off the biggest comeback of the NBA season.

One day later, and there’s now concern in Southern California that James will be sidelined for some time. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers fear that James will miss an extended period with a right foot injury. The NBA insider goes on to note that the belief is James will be sidelined an indefinite amount.

James, 38, will get multiple opinions on the injury before deciding on the best course of action. However, the Lakers believe internally that he’ll miss multiple weeks of action.

  • LeBron James stats (2022-23): 29.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 6.9 APG, 50% shooting, 31% 3-point

Despite his relatively advanced age, James continues to play at an MVP level for the pedestrian Lakers. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer is averaging 31.9 points to go with 8.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists on 51% shooting over the past 20 games.

With James now sidelined for the foreseeable future, Los Angeles finds itself behind the proverbial eight-ball. The team enters this week’s action with a 29-32 record and as the 12th seed in the Western Conference.

James’ injury is all sorts of unfortunate given that the Lakers had been looking much better since general manager Rob Pelinka pulled off several deals ahead of the NBA trade deadline earlier this month.

We’ll have further updates on LeBron James’ status as soon as they become available. For now, this is terrible news.
