The quarterback needy Indianapolis Colts are slated to pick No. 4 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft later this month.
It stands to reason that they’ll miss out on the top two quarterbacks, Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.
This isn’t stopping general manager Chris Ballard and Co. from getting a first-hand view of the two. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Indianapolis is working out the two top prospects on Monday.
In order to land either Young or Stroud, Indianapolis would likely have to move up to second overall with the division rival Houston Texans. That seems highly unlikely with Houston in need of a quarterback of its own. Why would the team help out a division rival?
The Texans have been scouting these two signal callers throughout the pre-draft process and seem to be locked in to whoever the Carolina Panthers don’t select No. 1.

Indianapolis just signed veteran Gardner Minshew to potentially be a stopgap option. It came on a smaller deal, meaning starting a rookie could be in the cards.
The Colts are about to make history with yet another different Week 1 starter after the failed Matt Ryan experiment lasted just one season.
As of right now, Florida’s Anthony Richardson and Will Levis from Kentucky would be options at four.
Then again, there is an off chance that the Indianapolis Colts could find a way to entice Houston in a trade down from two. That would be magnified if the Texans are high on either Richardson or Levis. Though, it would cost a pretty penny.
