It was back on Nov. 2 of 2021 that then-Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was involved in a fatal car accident just west of the Strip in which a woman by the name of Tina Tintor was killed.

Ruggs was ultimately arrested by authorities in Las Vegas on charges of DUI resulting in death, vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing substantial harm and two counts of reckless driving.

Less than two years after the charges were filed against Ruggs, he has opted to plead guity to two charges in Las Vegas Superior Court.

Said guilty pleas include DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Ruggs faces between three and 10 years in prison. If Ruggs had not pled out and was found guilty on all charges, he would have faced up to 50 years in prison.

Authorities in Southern Nevada claim that Henry Ruggs was going 156 miles-per-hour at the time of the crahs, killing both Tintor and her dog, Max. Ruggs’ blood-alcohol level was 0.161, more than twice the legal limit in the state of Nevada. The Raiders almost immediately released Ruggs on the spot.

For Tintor’s family, this has to bring some sense of closure to the tragic circumstances surrounding her death at the young age of 23. The family has been quiet following her death but did release a statement shortly after the accident.

“Tina’s tragic loss has devastated her family beyond a grief they could ever comprehend. Family was everything to Tina, and she was the light of her parent’s life,” the statement read. “Tina lived in Las Vegas since she was a baby. She loved her three-year-old Golden Retriever, Max, who passed alongside her Tuesday morning. The Tintor family appreciates privacy as they mourn. May Tina rest in peace.”

As for Ruggs, he will now spend some time in prison after admitting guilt. Ruggs was a first-round pick of the Raiders back in 2020 out of Alabama. He played his last game with the team just over a week before the accident.
