Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers came up just short in their attempt at winning a sixth Super Bowl title this past February against the Kansas City Chiefs. The fell in overtime. It was yet another disappointing end to a great season in Northern California.

Now with the 2024 NFL Draft here and some major questions surrounding the 49ers, general manager John Lynch must find a way to more depth. Here, we provide you with our final 49ers mock draft of 2024.

2024 San Francisco 49ers mock draft: Adding depth, blockbuster trade

First round, 17th pick: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

San Francisco signed starting right tackle Colton McKivitz to a contract extension earlier in the offseason. It also has one of the best left tackles in that of Trent Williams. Neither of these players seem to be long-term option in Northern California. Williams is 35 years old. Meanwhile, McKivitz yielded an absolutely whopping nine sacks last season.

Mims has been linked to the 49ers a ton in the pre-draft process. The 6-foot-7, 340-pound offensive tackle has elite strength at the point of contact. His plus-level when it comes to pass protection and is dominate in the run game. He could potentially start at guard before potentially moving outside to replace either McKivitz or Williams.

First round, 31st overall: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

We agree with Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Media here. The idea of San Francisco adding the fastest player in the 2024 draft to a core group of Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle on offense for Brock Purdy makes sense.

Worthy wouldn’t be a luxury pick. As noted above, we’re mocking San Francisco to trade the talented Brandon Aiyuk. Getting someone to replace him who could be an immediate producer Day 1 while providing that over-the-top speed would be a goon for the 49ers.

Second round, 63rd overall: Bralen Trice, EDGE, Washington

The 49ers signed veteran edge rusher Leonard Floyd during NFL free agency. They also lost the likes of Clelin Ferrell, Chase Young and Randy Gregory on the open market. This remains very much a need for general manager John Lynch and Co. opposite Nick Bosa. It has to be an area for the 49ers to address during this year’s draft.

The 260-pound Trice would make perfect sense in Round 2. He recorded a combined 23.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks during his final two seasons with the Huskies. He’s great at the point of contact and shows the effort out on the edge. That’s certainly something Bosa and Co. can work with moving forward.

Third round, 94th overall: Renardo Green, CB, Florida State

The 49ers did not do a whole lot during the first couple waves of free agency to address the cornerback position. They have Charvarius Ward manning one spot. The expectation is that Deommodore Lenoir will be the other outside cornerback after a stellar 2023 season. Signing veteran Isaac Yiadom helps from a depth perspective. But there is a need for a youngster on this roster.

The 5-foot-11 Green is someone who can play both outside and in the slot. He has great speed on the outside and is good when it comes to playing press-man. It’s an area the 49ers have a need. There is value here, too.

Fourth round, 116th overall: Theo Johnson, TE, Penn State

Noticing a theme here? San Francisco using the 2024 NFL Draft to address areas that it didn’t during free agency. Obviously, there is a need behind George Kittle at tight end. After all, 49ers tight ends not named Mr. Kittle caught all of three passes a season ago.

We love Johnson as a red-zone threat for Brock Purdy in San Francisco. The 6-foot-6 tight end saw seven of his 34 receptions turn into touchdowns a season ago. In fact, he caught 11 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Nittany Lions.
