After much speculation about a return to the ring, Evander Holyfield will dawn his gloves at least one more time when he faces Kevin McBride in an exhibition fight on June 5th. It will take place on the undercard of unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr.’s title defense against George Kambosos on Triller PPV.

Originally, Evander Holyfield was planning on facing Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight. Mike Tyson recently fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition fight and accepted a challenge to fight Holyfield after he called him out. However, it was reported by Evander Holyfield’s camp that Mike Tyson turned down an offer of $25 million for a fight in May a claim that was refuted by Tyson’s representation.

This will be the first time Evander Holyfield steps in a boxing ring since May 2011 when he beat Brian Nielsen by 10th round TKO. In his 26-year boxing career, Holyfield made history becoming the first fighter to become undisputed champion in two weight classes doing so in the cruiserweight and heavyweight division.

Evander Holyfield’s resume of opponents is an impressive one including Dwight Muhammad Qawi, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer and the aforementioned Mike Tyson.

While Kevin McBride did not have as successful of a professional boxing career as Evander Holyfield, he did have a solid career with some success. Turning pro in 1992, McBride held a record of 35-10-1, winning 19 of his first 20 fight with the other fight ending in a draw.

Kevin McBride’s most notable win in his career came in June 2005 when he secured a sixth-round knockout win over Mike Tyson in the final fight of Tyson’s career. His last time in the ring was in July 2011 when he lost to Mariusz Wach by 4th round knockout.
