Every game is important at this stage in the NBA season, especially for Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and the Golden State Warriors. Steve Kerr’s team enters NBA games today in 10th place in the Western Conference and have a tough matchup against the Orlando Magic, who actually have a better record (42-29) than the Warriors (37-34).

The Warriors are 2.5 games behind the Lakers for ninth-place in the West, and have just a one-game lead over the red-hot Rockets, who have won nine in a row. So not only is the Magic game a big matchup against a good team, the Warriors don’t have any margin for error as they seek a playoff spot.

Yet, Draymond Green couldn’t smell the desperation in the air.

Less than four minutes into the first quarter, Green was ejected after getting two quick technical fouls following a heated argument with referee Ray Acosta. It’s his fourth ejection of the season, setting a new career high for the four-time NBA Champion. Kevin Durant has the most NBA ejections in a recent season in recent memory, being ejected five times in 2017-18.

This is the second time Green has been ejected in the first quarter this season, and he’s the only NBA player to accomplish that ‘feat’ twice this year.

Green was ejected, taking the Warriors’ best big out of the contest for good. As expected, this move bothered Steph Curry, who couldn’t help but shake his head in disgust.

The Warriors are playing the second night of a back-to-back, where the 34-year-old played 28 minutes in Golden State’s 113-92 win over Miami. Without Green in the lineup, now the Warriors will have to turn to Kevon Looney and second-year pro Trayce Jackson-Davis to soak up the minutes in the paint against Paolo Banchero.
