Denver Broncos will take trade calls for every player on roster ahead of NFL trade deadline

First-year Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has already made his mark on the team despite an ugly 2-5 start to the season.

That included moving off veteran edge rushers Randy Gregory and Frank Clark earlier in October. While George Paton is technically the Broncos’ general manager, it’s Payton who holds all of the power from a player personnel standpoint.

We continue to hear rumors about the Broncos blowing it up ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. Dianna Russini of The Athletic added to that recently with a report suggesting that the Broncos will field offers for every player on their 53-man roster.

“The Denver Broncos are not having a fire sale despite a troubling start to their season. Multiple people with the team told me that they will listen to offers on every player but aren’t selling the roster. I was told to look for them to move pieces on the defensive side of the ball. I expect Sean Payton to have a strong hand in all of these decisions as the team continues to back his vision and beliefs.”

Wide receivers Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are two names that continue to pop up. But based on this report and teams potentially being weary about the fifth-year option on Jeudy’s contract, the Broncos are likely to move other players.

Players the Denver Broncos could look to trade

Denver is coming off a hard-fought home win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Its defense stepped up big time, putting up a second consecutive solid performance after being much maligned earlier in the season.

Players on that side of the ball could potentially have interest from contending teams. Linebacker Josey Jewell as well as safeties Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons are three names to keep an eye on.

While third-year cornerback Patrick Surtain II is seemingly off limits, it’s not going to stop other teams from putting in a call to the Broncos. That’s magnified by this most-recent report.

As for the offensive side of the ball, left tackle Garett Bolles is someone to keep an eye on. He’d draw a ton of interest from contending teams with needs on the offensive line.

What we do know is that Russell Wilson will not be traded. The struggling future Hall of Famer is playing under a five-year, $242.6 million contract. No team is trading for that type of deal. That’s for sure.
