Denver Broncos locker room morale reportedly low with expectations the roster will be blown up soon

The Denver Broncos have been one of the biggest disasters in the 2023 NFL season, and it seems the team’s players see the writing on the wall and know some of them won’t be on the roster much longer.

While the Denver Broncos are not at the very bottom of the current NFL standings, there is no doubt they are viewed around the league as one of the biggest laughing stocks over the first few weeks of the season. Despite the addition of Super Bowl-winning head coach Sean Payton, the poor play that began in 2022 has not changed, and in some ways has gotten worse in the new season.

They head into their NFL Week 6 game against division rivals the Kansas City Chiefs with a 1-4 record, have given up the most points per game in the league (36.2), and have a game where they gave up a shocking 70 points on their resume for the 2023 season. With little hope for a turnaround this year, the team has been the source of a lot of speculation about an impending roster shakeup.

The organization made headlines when they surprisingly traded Randy Gregory last week after giving him a $70 million deal last year. On Tuesday, NFL Media league insider James Palmer claimed that the team’s horrid play this season and the Gregory move have some in the locker room talking about expected changes to the roster in the weeks and months ahead.

“You look at the Denver Broncos, being there yesterday, the sense that I get from players in that locker room is a potential teardown is coming. That’s just the way some of these players feel. There are thoughts in that locker room, where changes could start happening before the trade deadline. Randy Gregory, that move — being in the locker room last week — that’s what really shook up this group if you ask my opinion, talking to players. It was, ‘Okay, now Sean Payton’s going to start doing things his way’ in a sense.”

The 2023 NFL trade deadline is on Oct. 31, and the Broncos are sure to be at the heart of many rumors of contending teams looking to add pieces for a playoff push in the second half of the season.
