Buffalo Bills wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley made sweet music with quarterback Josh Allen a season ago.
Whether that is going to be the case in 2021 remains to be seen. A lot of this will depend on Beasley’s status with the Bills.
A recent report suggests that Buffalo could move on from the veteran slot receiver after he made some off-handed remarks about the NFL’s stance on players getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
This might now be taken to a whole new level following news on Thursday that the league will force teams into forfeiting games should an outbreak of COVID-19 among non-vaccinated personnel force the postponement of a game.
Interestingly enough, it’s not Cole Beasley who took to social media after the announcement became public record. Rather, it appears that Diggs took a dig (pun intended) at his teammate.
It’s not really hard to read between the lines here. In Diggs’ eyes, it seems he’s saying accountability means getting the vaccine and being available to play on Sundays.
Buffalo is considered one of the top-end Super Bowl contenders this season. Any outbreak among the unvaccinated could lead to forfeiting games and impacting its ability to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
As for Cole Beasley, he made it more than obvious where he stands on getting the vaccine.
“I’m not going to take meds for a leg that isn’t broken. I’d rather take my chances with Covid and build up immunity that way,” Beasley wrote in a series of tweets back in June.
He’s since doubled down on this despite pressure from the powers that be within the NFL.
A total of 14 NFL teams have reached the 85% vaccination threshold with 78% of players around the league having received at least one shot.
This is going to continue being a big story with training camps around the league getting going and the preseason slated to start in the matter of weeks.
