It may seem like the Chicago Bears have been adding talent non-stop since the offseason kicked off. While one could argue their franchise overhaul started last year with the selection of Caleb Williams with the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, nailing that draft pick allows them to be ultra-aggressive in upgrading the roster.
Especially now that they’ve hired Ben Johnson as the head coach, the Bears are ready to capitalize on the competitive window that comes with having a young star quarterback on an inexpensive contract. After adding multiple Pro Bowlers and even an All-Pro to the roster, now the Bears have another former All-Pro joining the crew.

Chicago Bears sign 2x Pro Bowl return specialist Devin Duvernay
The Chicago Bears have added multiple pieces on both sides of the ball, but what about special teams? Yet, the Bears didn’t forget about special teams coach Richard Hightower, they’ve just gotten him a new toy with a Pro Bowl resume.
According to Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bears have signed two-time Pro Bowl return specialist Devin Duvernay to a one-year contract, though the financial terms are unknown.
Still, adding the one-time All-Pro gives the Bears some juice in the kick and punt return department. While he hasn’t brought one back to the house since 2022, Duvernay has two kick return touchdowns in his career.
When he’s not averaging a robust 24.1 yards per kick return, Duvernay operates as a wide receiver. Though, he hasn’t reached the 100-yard plateau in a single season since 2022 with the Baltimore Ravens. Odds are, the Bears are looking at him as a strict returner who can perform spot duties as a receiver if necessary.
