Cam Newton seemingly takes shot at Kelvin Benjamin

Cam Newton

Less than 24 hours after Cam Newton proclaimed he would not start a “back and forth” with former teammate Kelvin Benjamin, he seemingly took a shot at the receiver.

On Saturday, Benjamin had this to say about Newton.

“It was a bad fit from the get-go. If you would’ve put me with any other quarterback, let’s be real, you know what I’m saying?”

The gist of Benjamin’s comments were that he thinks a more accurate quarterback would have been better for him.

On Sunday, Newton seemed to respond directly to that while doing his throwing drills, and in the process appeared to take a shot at Benjamin as well.

For what it’s worth, Benjamin fared far better in Carolina last year than he did with the Buffalo Bills. He also caught 136 passes for 1,949 yards and 16 touchdowns during his first two full seasons playing with Newton in Carolina.

Somehow we’re betting he comes nowhere close to that kind of production with the Bills this year. After which he might have to revisit his comments about Newton.
