The early stages of the NBA offseason has been defined by sign-and-trades. Outside of former MVP Russell Westbrook being moved from the Washington Wizards to the Los Angeles Lakers, there really hasn’t been many blockbuster trades.

Now that the dust has settled in free agency around the NBA, there’s an expectation that trades will start to take hold. Below, we look at five blockbuster NBA trades we could still see this summer.

Sacramento Kings trade Buddy Hield to the Los Angeles Clippers in three-team deal

After missing out on DeMar DeRozan and other top-end targets, the Clippers are in desperation mode. They’ll likely be without Kawhi Leonard for the entire 2021-22 season due to a torn ACL and need to find another scorer to go with Paul George. That’s where Hield comes into play. The two-guard averaged nearly 17 points per game a season ago and is a career 41% shooter from three-point range.

As for Sacramento, it adds two wings in Mann and Kennard who will help balance out the roster. After selecting Davion Mitchell, the team’s backcourt is a bit too crowded. Bringing in a former lottery pick in Culver helps, too. Meanwhile, Minnesota gets that backup point guard it is missing following the trade of Ricky Rubio.

Cleveland Cavaliers trade Collin Sexton to the San Antonio Spurs

After opting for big man Evan Mobley over the likes of Jalen Suggs with the third pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Cleveland has a pressing need at the two-guard spot. It is also apparently looking to move Sexton despite the guard leading the team in scoring at north of 24 points per game a season ago. Picking up White would make for a better fit with Darius Garland in the backcourt. That’s for sure.

As for San Antonio, it’s been an NBA offseason of change. Patty Mills and DeMar DeRozan are gone. Rumors are circulating regarding a potential trade of Dejounte Murray. Even if the Spurs were to retain Murray, acquiring Sexton to play the two-guard spot would make sense. It would also create a pretty darn good young core group of Murray, Sexton, Keldon Johnson, Joshua Primo and Devin Vassell.

Orlando Magic trade Gary Harris to the Dallas Mavericks

New Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison has already put his own touch on their roster by adding the likes of Reggie Bullock, Sterling Brown and Moses Brown to the mix. With that said, Dallas could use a two-way wing to help the recently-extended Luka Doncic if it wants to improve after last season’s first-round NBA Playoff exit. Harris, 26, would definitely be that. He averaged 10.2 points on 36% shooting from distance a season ago. Bringing in Bamba to team up with Brown inside would also be a boon here.

From Orlando’s perspective, it continues to stockpile young assets for first-year head coach Jamahl Mosley. He has a great reputation in the player development department. Mosley also worked with 2020 first-round pick Josh Green last season as an assistant in Dallas. Meanwhile, he could potentially flip the expiring contract of Powell in-season for more assets.

Toronto Raptors trade Pascal Siakam to the Washington Wizards

To say that Washington is going all in with Bradley Beal would be an understatement. The team pulled off a staggering deal in acquiring multiple key assets from the Los Angeles Lakers in what ended up being a five-team Russell Westbrook trade. There’s now no reason to believe that Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard will stop here. Adding Siakam to the mix to go with Beal and Spencer Dinwiddie would make for a top-five team in the Eastern Conference.

Fresh off taking Scottie Barnes in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, Toronto is listening to offer for Siakam. There’s a decent chance that he will be dealt this summer. If so, acquiring a young wing like Deni Avdija to team up with Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr. and Barnes would be a steal. Taking a chance on Kuzma also makes sense in that he’s still young and just a couple years removed from averaging nearly 20 points per game. Meanwhile, Bryant would fill out an improved starting five in Toronto.

Philadelphia 76ers trade Ben Simmons to the Golden State Warriors in three-team deal

NBA trade rumors continue to circulate as it relates to Simmons heading to the Warriors. He’s shut off communication with Philadelphia and wants to head to Northern California. From Golden State’s perspective, this pretty much puts the team in a great position in trade talks after Philadelphia demanded way too much in previous conversations. Whether Simmons is a fit in Golden State remains to be seen. But there’s a reason talks have continued.

For the 76ers, moving off the unhappy Simmons in exchange for a much better offensive player in C.J. McCollum makes sense. It could also use the two future first-round picks (acquired from Golden State) to add another star to the mix.

We already know that Blazers star Damian Lillard is not happy about the direction of the organization. The status quo is not working. It’s high time for Portland to move off McCollum in an attempt to find a better running partner. That could come in the form of Andrew Wiggins, who would be an improvement on the defensive end of the court. Perhaps, Moody could then be used to add another proven player to the mix.
