New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is not expected to miss the season and the team hopes he can return in the next couple of weeks, however, a new report offers a worrisome update on the injury that will again force him out of action in Week 8.
Ahead of the NFL games today the Giants are closing in a must-win territory if they hope to make a second straight trip to the postseason this year. The team is 2-5 and will play a New York Jets team just as desperate to stay afloat and in the playoff chase.

The Jets’ elite defense is going to be a difficult puzzle for head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to solve on Sunday and they are, unfortunately, going to have to do it without starting quarterback Daniel Jones. The fifth-year man injured his neck in Week 5 and has been ruled out of NFL Week 8.
In his absence, the team has split their two games and they hope they won’t have to do it for much longer. On Saturday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed that New York is looking at Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys as the target for Jones’ return to action. But a new report paints a picture that a return in two weeks is far from a guarantee.

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones dealing with weakness in non-throwing arm
On Sunday morning, NFL Media league insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero delivered some worrisome news about the ongoing issue with the 26-year-old’s neck.

“Sources say Jones’ injury has caused significant weakness in his left (non-throwing) arm. The injury is healing, and Jones has regained a lot of the strength, but it hasn’t healed enough for Jones to be cleared for contact. If Jones, 26, were to return before he’s fully healthy, there would be a heightened risk of reinjury that would send him back to square one.
“So, the Giants continue to take a cautious approach to his return. The past two weeks in practice, Jones took increased scout-team reps, a sign that shutting him down is not currently under consideration. But until he’s fully cleared, that’s all he’ll do at practice.”
– NFL Network report
Jones missed six games in 2021 due to a similar neck injury. The team is likely trying to avoid another long stay on the sidelines. The issue is reportedly nerve-related and such injuries are much easier to reinjure.
