Baltimore Ravens make offer to Odell Beckham Jr.

The Baltimore Ravens are serious about finding Lamar Jackson some help as the quarterback continues to look for a way out.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Baltimore has made a contract offer to three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Baltimore had previously met with OBJ starting at the NFL owners meetings in Arizona last month. It is clear that the team is in on him.

Meanwhile, the top remaining NFL free agent has also drawn interest from the New York Jets. It was previously noted that New York was favored to land Beckham Jr. once it is able to finalize a trade for Aaron Rodgers.

From an on-field standpoint, signing OBJ makes perfect sense for Baltimore. Fellow free agent Demarcus Robinson led all Ravens wide receivers with 48 catches and 458 yards a season ago. Devin Duvernay was second with just 37 receptions.

Sure, the Ravens are going to get former first-round pick Rashod Bateman back after he missed the majority of last season. However, there’s still an obvious need here. Signing slot guy Nelson Agholor does nothing to change this.

From a broader perspective, signing OBJ could very well be a way to appease the aforementioned Lamar Jackson. It was just a couple weeks ago that Jackson announced he has requested a trade from the Ravens.

Baltimore and its star quarterback remain locked in an ugly contract situation after the team placed the dreaded franchise tag on him. Finances aside, bringing in a proven and capable receiver could help smooth things over.

The 30-year-old Beckham Jr. missed all of last season with a torn ACL he suffered in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals back in February of 2022.

He had drawn interest from several teams late last season, but it became clear that the veteran was not ready to return. That’s obviously changed. And in reality, the Baltimore Ravens seem to be an ideal fit.
