Odell Beckham to New York Jets reportedly a lock if Aaron Rodgers trade finalized

Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly prefers to sign with the New York Jets over any other team in NFL free agency, as long as Aaron Rodgers can be his quarterback.

The New York Jets have become one of the biggest stories this offseason. After a few weeks of rumored interest, the Green Bay Packers allowed Aaron Rodgers to speak with members of the Jets organization. Following that conversation — and a visit to a darkness retreat — the future Hall-of-Famer let the world know that he wanted to continue playing in 2023, and he wanted to do it in New York.

Since then, the two teams have been trying to hash out a trade, however, they have hit several roadblocks. While the Jets are trying to bring the four-time MVP to New York, they have also been looking to make moves to bolster the weapons Rodgers could have next season.

The team already had reigning AFC rookie of the year Garrett Wilson on the roster, and they added Rodgers’ top target in 2022, Allen Lazard, in NFL free agency. However, over the last couple of weeks, they have been linked to three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham Jr.

Recent reports claimed the New York Jets were a strong favorite to land the top receiver left on the market. However a pair of news bits this week confirmed that fact, but with a caveat.

First, ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano reported that “Beckham Jr. has offers on the table from multiple teams, and I am told the Jets are the most likely landing spot but that Beckham could be waiting to make sure the Aaron Rodgers deal gets completed before finalizing his own decision.”

Graziano also added that the Baltimore Ravens have also made a strong push. But, fellow ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler added to that report with some intel of his own.

“The feeling is the Jets remain a viable contender, depending on the price point. A few people I spoke to believe Rodgers is the quarterback with whom Beckham wants to play.”

Beckham’s reported original asking price of $20 million per season has allegedly dropped over the last week to a place the New York Jets will likely be much more comfortable with.
