Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins sit out practice

Cardinals' Kyler Murray (1) warms up with Deandre Hopkins (10) before a game against the Eagles at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. on Dec. 20, 2020. Cardinals Vs Eagles

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins were not spotted on the field for the open portion of practice on Friday.

Murray missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday due to a left ankle injury he sustained during last week’s 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury previously said Murray could play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4) even if he doesn’t practice all week. Colt McCoy, 35, would be under center should Murray be unable to play, however.

Murray, 24, has completed 72.7 percent of his passes for 2,276 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight starts this season for the Cardinals (7-1). He has also rushed for 147 yards and three scores.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Murray needs 31 passing yards to reach 10,000 for his career.

Like Murray, Hopkins also missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday due to his hamstring injury.

Hopkins, 29, was limited to 15 snaps last week and finished with two catches for 66 yards against the Packers.

The five-time Pro Bowl selection has recorded team-leading totals in receptions (35), receiving yards (486) and touchdowns (seven) in eight games this season.

Hopkins has 782 catches for 10,495 yards and 67 touchdowns in 134 career games with the Houston Texans and Cardinals.
