There is going to be a trickle-down effect for the Alabama Crimson Tide following the shocking decision by now-former head coach Nick Saban to retire.
We’re already seeing that mere hours after news of Saban hanging them up broke. According to multiple media reports, five-star recruit Ryan Williams has decommitted from Alabama.
Per 247 Sports, Williams is the 12th-ranked player nationally in the Class of 2024 and the fourth-best wide receiver. He had not signed with Alabama during the early signing period, meaning that Williams is now free to choose his next landing spot.
Tom VanHaaren of ESPN reports that Williams is set to visit Texas A&M this weekend. Texas and Auburn are also reportedly in the running for his services. Williams has also drawn interest from Arkansas and Colorado.
Interestingly, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is already recruiting Alabama players via social media following Saban’s surprise retirement.
As for the Crimson Tide, they have two other five-star recruits in the Class of 2024. That includes quarterback Julian Sayin and cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe. It will certainly be interesting to see what comes to fruition on that front.
